For most of us, the patriarchy is all we’ve ever known—except for a handful of matriarchal societies that still exist to this day. MOTHER is a potential docu-series that dives into eight different matriarchies while aiming to reveal life outside of the patriarchy we all know so well.
We decided to structure each episode based around eight different themes: the Origin, Voice, Labor, Love, Beauty, Power, Justice and Future.
Each episode would follow the same formula: begin with a universal question, show the Matriarchy’s way of doing things, contrast that with the patriarchy that we know, and then connect the theme with our viewers by showing how there is another way of existing.
To create intrigue for Mother, we will publish a Matriarchy Narrative Book that features photography and in-depth stories from the series and connect further with our audience by asking them matriarchy-related questions on social.
We’ll also host a Q+A with our film makers, the narrators, and representatives from each matriarchal society to build up hype around the series and instill a curiosity within viewers to learn more.
